I know you want to hear none, but personally I’d go to the Dr. I was convinced I was having an ectopic based on cramps, so I went…it turned out to not be, but if it is they need to catch it ASAP bc it can be very dangerous to you. For a) the peace of mind and b)due to the consequences of ignoring it, I would go.

I REALLY hope it’s nothing,  I just couldn’t live without knowing 100% if itwas me.

MrsRevolutionize:  When you say “shoulder blade” do you mean the wing-like thing that bumps out on your back? Is that where it hurts? (No googling anything before you answer!)

MrsRevolutionize:  I really really really hope you’re just being nervous,  and it’s nothing. Let us know.

If you have no abdominal pain or bleeding, it is EXREMELY unlikely you’re experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. The shoulder pain is associated with other symptoms. Someone may get shoulder pain with an ectopic because the pain would radiate there (referred pain) in addition to abdominal pain. If you feel like you need to, just call the OB office, but I certainly wouldn’t rush to an ER or anything like that.

MrsRevolutionize:  Hm, the info I’m finding says it’s NOT towards the back. I’m no expert though and certainly not a doctor. I hope your appointment goes well. It must be very stressful to be a pregnant hypochondriac, and as sarcastic or snarky as that sounds, I mean it most sincerely. I mean, it must be very stressful all the time, but especially during pregnancy. Good for you for recognizing it. Is there any treatment or behavioral therapy that might help? Best wishes!

MrsRevolutionize:  do you have a nurse hotline or something you can call in your area to put your mind at rest?

I agree that you’d probably be seeing other symptoms, but I’m not a doctor. Pregnancy makes you crazy!!

I thought I was having an eptopic pregnancy back in June and did a lot of google. If I remember correctly the shoulder pain comes along with a lot of other symptoms. Good luck!

Oh honey…call the nurses hotline, get an ultrasound to confirm intrauterine pregnancy…but as one who has HAD a ruptured ectopic AND shoulder tip pain, there ain’t nothin like it. The fact that you are able to play online and post on the boards tends to make me think you are just fine and talking yourself into it (and in the wrong place).

get an ultrasound. Ectopics are nothing to mess with.

but then step away from the ledge and do your best to stop borrowing trouble.

First thing’s first, take a deep, cleansing breath.

There are A LOT of snarky women on here, so ignore them right away.

If you are experiencing only one symptom on the list, then mathematically the odds are low. For peace of mind, go the a walk in clinic (NOT emergency room, that will only cause panic) and talk to one of the doctors there. They will either put your mind at ease, or be able to fast track any testing you need to get your answers.

Remember: it’s going to be ok!
