downonmulberry :  a CZ shoud be pretty cheap, so why not?

I’ve seen several bees post on here saying they ordered several cheap rings off Amazon to get a feel for what they liked before pulling the trigger on the real thing.

We’re thinking of upgrading and I have been considering ordering a “fake” ring to see how it looks on my finger.

I don’t understand getting a stand in ring as a deterrent. Thieves don’t know if the stone is fake or not.  If you are traveling to places where a large ring might draw attention, I suggest leaving it at home (or with someone you trust), or do what I do… wear my wedding band only.

Yes, what you just said. And perhaps naively, I don’t really understand the angst around fearing attracting thieves. Could be because l don’t have any huge stones though!.

I have a silicone ring for when we go camping. I actually have like 5-6 in a bunch of different colors.

elderbee :   TheMrsTulip :  I think OP meant a detetrent against men hitting on her, hence the resting bitch face comment. That was my take anyways.

I too never understand the point of wearing a fake ring if you’re that afraid of theives, most theives won’t realize the difference until they’ve already stolen it from you.

As if a ring actually worked to deter unwanted male attention….now that would be some magic ring. I’ve found resting old-face to be a moderately effective tactic.

I voted “No and I would not,” but I did buy a $60 CZ through amazon to see if I liked the style of a 3-stone (cushion with trillion side stones), because I was considering changing my setting, but I returned it a day later.

I would buy a stand in ring in a heart beat for traveling! Even if the original ring is insured I’d be devastated to lose it or have it stolen. I’d rather lose or have a fake one taken from my while my sentimental ring sets safe and sound at home. As far as ordering fake ones to see the style on yourself, I suggest that too. No harm in doing so and making sure you love the real thing 🙂

The silicone rings are great for working out. If you are going out why wouldn’t you just wear your ring?

Bought a CZ ring in a totally different style of my engagement ring. I bought it for a few reasons…

    1) I wanted to wear something my my ring was at the jewelers being redesigned.

    2) I want something I can wear when traveling, especially internationally, in case I lose or forget it. I don’t wear my rings to shower or sleep.

    3) It’s fun to mix things up!

Here’s my 3-stone CZ in sterling silver. I’m liking it a lot!

I was torn between a solitaire and 3 stone, so bought $8 Walmart rings to figure out my preference. I don’t use it as a stand in, my ring is insured and well made, but they are similar:
