- Wedding: October 2011
So I decided a long time ago that I didn’t want to do table assignments…I know, I know most you gals on here are probably tsking away but here’s the thing: I’ve been to several weddings now with assigned tables and I never like it. I always feel confined or something, like I can’t mingle and its even worse when you get assigned to sit at a table that’s completely seperate from the friends you arrived with in the first place!
So when we got engaged and started looking at venues, I knew that I didn’t want a formal sit down dinner with table assignments. So we planned a lovely outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception in October. The venue is this large beautiful stone mansion with a huge ballroom. I talked to the coordinator there about setting up some 60in rounds and some smaller, talled cocktail tables to encourage mingling and partying. We are having an open bar and heavy hor dourves and really just want everyone to have a good time.
So if you’ve kept reading, here’s the hitch: Someone mentioned to me that we might want to reserve a table for ourselves as well as the parents and the wedding party…..well duh! Why didn’t I think of that?! Except now I’m looking at half of the tables being assigned and the other half being a free for all!! Is this a mistake?! Will people really feel uncomfortable if they don’t know where to sit??
