OK. I am getting married in FOUR WEEKS, so there’s not a lot of time for me — just had my second dress fitting two days ago and the bustline of my dress was tight — had the zipper been in it wouldn’t have closed. I’ve been doing a mixture of running and weight training — at least a 25 minute run 6x per week (50-60 minutes on my non-weight-training days) and then a 60 minute weight training video like Jari Love (lots of reps, but low weights). With JL, she does a TON of chest exercises — 5 minutes each of pec flies, chest press, and push-ups. Starting now I’m going to only do the push-up exercises Should I also cut down how much I do for the back exercises — like, not do the dead lifts and the rows? Any thing else I can be doing?
Was planning to drop down to no-carbs for the 2 weeks before the wedding (I have trouble finishing my workouts if I’m not eating them) but now my next dress fitting is May 17 — so I guess I’ll drop down to no-carbs the week before that also. Wedding is May 30. Any (healthy) suggestions are welcome — I’ve got a small frame so every inch really counts on me. (I’d describe myself as a very flubbery size 4 or 6, depending on the brand.)

I’d definitely stop the weights. Don’t do too much cardio, either, but substitute in some pilates and yoga. Since you only have a month, I recommend nixing out as much asalt as you can the week before. It’ll help draw out water weight. A friend of mine does the body wraps and they’re a "quick fix" but maybe a good solution for you. Some spanx never hurts, either.
Be careful going too low carb. It makes me all light headed and ravenous when I do that. Your body still needs carbs, maybe just go carbs 2 times a week, and only the good carbs, not white pastas and sugars, etc.
You can’t really lose muscle in 4 weeks, but you can keep from putting more on. If you eat a lot of protein, youll build muscle also.

If you describe yuorself as flubbery, then I tihnk the issue is that you’ve gained muscle w/o losing much fat yet (pretty normal at first). I would agree that with the amount of cardio you’re doing, adding more won’t help. And workouts that keep you in the fat burning zone will possibly help. And reducing carbs will probably give you pretty quick results also. I agree that I wouldn’t go extreme Atkins or anything…esp. so close to your wedding. I wuold eliminate most grains, but keep some whole ones if you can’t get through the day without them. I’d also cut out fruit b/c it’s loaded with sugar (better than a donut, bust will). But keep the veggies! You also want those for a nice skin tone on your wedding day.
I also agree with ejs4y8 that you probably don’t have a lot of time to lose muscle (nad why would you want ot). I think the key is to just focus on losing a bit of extra fat so those muscles show. One lucky thing is that muscle burns more calories, so hopefully if you concetrate on that you’ll see a difference quickly. I would, though, agree about cutting on the rows. I’m not sure where it’s tight, but the dead lifts are likely training lower down muscles. If there are any lat pull down type things, that’s what really builds your "wings" and will make you wider.

I recommend you check out the Abs diet – it takes a lot of the good advice from low carb diets, but also from other diets in a healthy way and focuses a lot on leg strengthening because that is where you can build up the most muscle the fastest and therefore boost your metabolism. You wind up much fuller than you do on a low-carb diet though.
It actually doesn’t take very long to lose muscle mass – even a week or so, you’ll see it start to drop down.
I second yoga/pilates – particularly pilates because it makes you look taller and will help with your posture.

katmmad: Hoping you will read this, although it is so far after your wedding…I am having the same issue, just picked up my dress and my back is crammed in, very tight, so I have back boobs now…I also do Jari Love. Trying to get toned and my back to look good, but want to be comfortable for wedding. What did you end up doing to fit in your dress better? My wedding is in 4 weeks, too! Thanks so much!

Drop to 50 carbs a day and high fat. yiur body will adapt to fat burning and your workout energy will come back. Just cut your workouts in half. Arms and back and abs lower weights but higher repetition. Run 20 min only in sprint intervals. The high fat and low carbs will turn body into pure fat burning machine. Ketogenic dieting!!!

Let me just say I am 50 and my body is starting to change…I can’t run anymore because i have foot issues, I walk for over an hour each day on the treadmill as fast as my toe will take it and try to get 15K steps per day…I have plenty of energy, lift twice per week with Jari Love Get Ripped and chiseled…Should I just cut out rows and deadlifts and pushups at this point? only have 4 weeks now, it is nearly impossible with me at this age to drop more than 2 pounds in a month (believe me, I have tried!) I am a dress size 6 or 8. I do rows with 12 pound weights, deadlifts with 12, shoulder presses with 5 lbs. Jari Love has lots of reps. Should I go down to 5 lbs with rows? My dress is a strapless ballgown, I don’t care as much about lower body, my abs are fine. It is really around my chest and boobs (which are growing for some crazy reason at this age, too UGH)
