I need help! I just got my pregnancy blood work delivered to me in digital format with no one to explain the results. So i’m looking at some medically coded document trying to understand it. Here’s what it says:
Results: 39.89 mIU/mL
(Negative at <6)
** verified by repeat analysis **
My questions are that it says it’s “qual” which I assume to mean “qualitative” which by my research is usually a yes/no result. Are these “results” my levels of hCG? Anyone have any insight? This is making me crazy!!! I have positive home pregnancy tests, negative Doctor urine tests, and now a confusing blood work document.

If you look at the disclaimer at the bottom is says negative at less than 6. So you have a positive hCG… BUT you can’t interpret it quantitatively unless you have a previous level and a current level to say whether it’s rising or falling.
So, qualitatively it’s positive… but it’s hard to interpret without knowing your circumstance and what the level was at before. If you just missed your period and have no bleeding or other problems and this was the initial screening test it would be called “Positive”. The should help you in understanding the results and not leave you hanging 🙁

@Mrs. DG:This was my initial screening, so yes! Super helpful. Thanks! Just missed my period the day after I got the blood taken so that makes a lot of sense.
