- Wedding: June 2015
This is my first post, but, like many of you, I have been lingering around this site for some time now!
My fiance and I got engaged 2/3/14 on our vacation in Greece, and upon our return we immediately hit the road to venue hunt. We are hoping to hold our wedding on June 27th, 2015 which also happens to be our 10 year dating anniversary.
We have been looking into having a “rustic chic” wedding for around 120 of our closest friends and family in our new home state of Virginia (we just moved from California). We have set our budget, and are officially in a venue dilemma— we are stuck between two. So, I’m enlisting your help to assist us in weighing out the pros and cons!
Option 1: Blenheim Vineyards Cost: $6,000
Includes tent with wood plank flooring, tables and chairs.
Must purchase wine from venue**
The tent with wood flooring is new, so there aren’t any pictures of weddings with it. Here are some of the grounds. Ceremony under the tree, reception under 60×70 sperry tent between two historic buildings.
Option 2: Panorama Farms Cost: $4,500+tax
Includes tables and chairs. Rentals, such as bistro lighting and accessories, not included.
May need to rent tent for cocktail hour, more of a “DIY” venue.
Luxury restroom trailer included.
Reception in Barn:
We love different things about each venue, and dislike things about them as well. I feel like Panorama may be less accommodating for our guests—country setting with fewer amenities, more walking for guests. At the same time, our budget will allow us to personalize the space more with rentals and guest perks like shuttle service to the hotel. I worry about heat, although we could install A/C units in the barn per the wedding coordinator. The ceremony site doesn’t have much shade, either.
Blenheim, while less of a raw space, would need rentals to make it something we would like. The tent would be beautiful, but I like the idea of the barn more. That being said, it seems more accommodating including a full catering kitchen and two indoor restrooms.
At the end of the day, I want our guests to be comfortable despite our wedding being outdoors… in June…in the South. (lol) I’d really love your opinions, or suggestions of other locations if you know of any gems in Virginia, seeing as we are new to the area.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I so appreciate your feedback and suggestions.
Thanks so much in advance!
