Hey bees! We don’t know yet what to do for our honeymoon. We are getting married at the end of April and leaving right after that. Ideally, we would like it to be a 10 day trip approximately. What you should know about us:
a) We LOVE the beach
b) We like culture and sightseeing
c) We are foodies
d) We like some adventure
e) We would like to keep it affordable so we are looking into online deals and that type of thing.
Initially, we thought of Costa Rica because it isn’t too expensive. We are still considering it but we found a deal to go to Greece and we loved it, the ancient culture, places to see! However, to relax and truly enjoy each other as honeymooners we believe it would be better to visit Greece in Summer, not Spring.
We want to go somewhere new and special and use this time to relax. We’ve traveled a bit domestically and dome the tourist thing before so it isn’t new for us. In this opportunity, relaxation and beautiful views take priority.
Thoughts? Recommendations? We’ve been to Mexico already although I keep hearing great things about Isla Mujeres. I’ve also heard great things about Hawaii and Thailand.
Thanks for your help!

MuseForever: Go to Aruba. The restaurants are amazing (don’t do all inclusive). There are plenty of excursions. A beautiful beach. Plenty of culture – the island is very safe to walk around.

MuseForever: Croatia, Italy, southern France? The weather there is beautiful in May.

MuseForever: Kauaii was beautiful and surprisingly affordable. I think airfare might have gone up quite a bit since I went 4 years ago though. But Greece though! Is there really that big a difference between spring and summer? I’d love to go to Greece for my honeymoon!

MuseForever: was in thailand for three months. highly recommend it. ate my way through my stay – food is cheap, beaches are out of this world, enough sight seeing to fill up any min of the day, people are super friendly, shopping is fantastic and the massages are cheap and plentiful! 10 days is plenty enough time to hit up bangkok and catch a plane to koh samui for a few days on the beach.

What’s your budget and where are you traveling from?

St. Lucia!! If you want an all-inclusive, stay on the southern part of the island, near Soufriere. The south part of the island virtually has no mosquitos or snakes because of the volcano. We opted to rent an open-air villa (no 4th wall) near Soufriere for a week, so we had our own place. The house came with perks too, a house keeper that stopped by everyday and a personal driver. I do not recommend renting a car and driving yourself, the roads are crazy. We ate at some amazing restaurants and did a ton of activities.
All in all, we probably spent about $4K not including the flight and we were able to make payments on the Villa, so it got paid throughout the year leading up to our wedding.

Portugal might be a good option. I spent some time on the Algarve, lots of beaches. You could take the train from Algarve to Lisbon for a few days to get some city culture too.
