Who is going to be looking at the ceiling when there is a beautiful bride to look at??

Maybe string some lights?

BeachBee1988:  Some people pay good money to get a “distressed” or “antiqued” look like that. Call it “patina” and go with it. Nobody is going to say “The wedding was almost beautiful, such a shame about the ceiling.” Seriously, this is not worth another second of thought. And certainly not $10-14 grand!!

Don’t think Ive every noticed the ceilings at wedding before. I’d just let this go. Are you really going to choose to focus on this for the next two days. I’d rather make peace with as one of those things beyond your control and focus my enegry elsewhere.

If the ceiling being painted is clearly in your contract, ask the venue to remedy it.

Also, I agree – don’t string up lights. In fact, my suggestion is don’t string up anything. Keep the focus at eye level or below. But really though — nobody is going to care either way.

It will look completely different when it’s full of tables and people. I honestly don’t think anyone will notice. We had our wedding reception in a cafe, which was open all day before our evening reception. My Mum loved the place but hated the floor as it was scuffed and dirty looking. After the wedding, I asked if they’d cleaned the floor enough for her and she said she hadn’t even thought to look, so it obviously wasn’t shocking.  Please try not to worry about it.

Honestly,  it’s so noticeable bc the pavilion is empty. Once you put up the decor, the eye will be drawn to that and no one will notice. You will probably even forget the day of.

If it is in the contract that the venue would repaint, ask THEM what THEY are going to do. Maybe find several other people who are going to use it this weekend and next weekend and go in to meet with the venue together.(Strength in numbers.)

But I don’t think this will be as noticeable as you are worried about. 1 Most people rarely look up. 2 Lower light in the evening. 3. Decor will distract. 4. As MissKayteeDee said, there will be a beautiful bride to look at rather than a ceiling.

I would ask for a discount

If your wedding reception is in the evening I dont think the ceiling will be that obvious.

Have you seen it unpainted at night with the lights and fans on? It will probably be a lot less noticeable, esp with downlights, which will hide the ceiling a bit.

also, no one is going to be looking up. Decorate with some tall objects, rent some trees etc, to space around the room if you really want to distract.

Your venue should be held accountable for not doing this, however, if it’s in your contract.

If it’s really bothering you like it seems I bet if u do a little bit of bitching they might discount you a bit… Not that that will fix the ceiling issue but at least it’s something since its in your contract and it hasnt been fulfilled..

And I agree with PPs, once the decor is in the space people will not notice the ceiling.. Don’t worry
