I am having the HARDEST time deciding between these two dresses, and for good reason. They are extremely different from each other! I tried on the Vera twice along with one other Reem Acra dress, but I saw the Laurel during my second visit and tried it on on a whim. Well, the Laurel beat out the other Reem dress by miles but I’m still stuck between two.
Some details about the wedding: outside ceremony in July + tent reception + dancing/dessert indoors in a mansion.
My feelings about the Vera: GORGEOUS dress. Did not expect to like a mermaid style dress, but the more I see it (and I saw it twice, not to mention the number of photos we took so that I could ogle over it later), the more I fall in love with it. My main concerns about this one though are: Hard to walk in? Dance in? Move around in? All that extra fabric will be HOT HOT HOT, especially in July. And I definitely can work up a sweat, just sayin. Any Gemma brides want to weigh in?
The very first photo of the Gemma is ideally how high I’d want the bottom to be raised. The other photo is with the bottom NOT raised. I think I will most likely wear it with the grosgrain sash to the side.
My feelings about the Laurel: Unlike the Gemma, I’ve only tried this one on once. I think it’s so beautiful, and it definitely has much more breathability than the Gemma. When I tried it on, I had a real “bridal moment” where I felt incredible and a bit flabbergasted looking back at myself in the mirror. It was the closest I had gotten to “the feeling” after having tried on dresses all day. But looking back at the pictures, I don’t get the same feeling as I did when I tried it on. Whereas, the Gemma continues to grow on me in photos (though I didn’t have the same kind of moment trying it on).
I feel so silly for being indecisive, but it has been weighing on my mind and I just don’t know how to choose! Help!

Oh my gosh, I can’t decide, either. I love both, both look amazing on you. I did vote for the Reem Acra, though.

@nya123: LOVE the second one. It’s a lot more unique and is absolutely gorgeous on you.

@nya123: Both dresses look great on you! I did choose dress #2 though. I think the bottom of the Vera dress looks like it is overwhelming your frame a little. Dress 2 is definately simpler but IMO is more flattering (you wearing the dress vs dress wearing you). However, I’m not crazy about the capsleeves but it does give the dress a little something extra. FWIW I think that waistline is much more flattering to you than the mermaid if you decide to keep looking.
Stunning pair of dresses! Good luck deciding 🙂

@penguinbee: Thanks! My mom expressed the same concern with the Gemma (dress was wearing me and not the other way around). Hearing it again makes me think I should listen to my mom more! Haha.
Yes! Olivia Wilde looked absolutely stunning in it!

Laurel, for suuuure. It looks absolutely stunning on you! I really like the Gemma, but it’s definitely overdone. There are a million replicas of the Gemma, while the Reem Acra Laurel looks so fresh!

The Reem Acra looks excellent on you!
The Gemma looks great as well, but its all too common.

I was trying to choose between a Vera Wang and a Romona Keveza and had very similar aesthetics – it was between Vera Wang Farrah (which has ruffles) or the Keveza which was flowy. Ultimately, I had my “bridal moment” where I felt so extremely happy wearing the dress with the Vera. So I’d say, go for that “bridal moment” feeling – the one that makes you feel the happiest and most you!

Laurel-clean, classy and elegant. Gemma looks a bit messy and all over the place.

@nya123: Fleur (a girl on youtube) wore that Reem Acra dress (or something similar). Her wedding was in a marquee and was stunning. I think the Reem Acra looks stunning on you!!
