I am search of some assitance and hoping you can all help, DP and I have gone ring shopping and pretty much narrowed down our choices.. I had casually mentioned to my mother the other day that I would love to have my grandmothers stone from her ring when she passes.. (its nothing fancy) I would just love the sentiment value.
My mom told me that my grandmother seemed really touched and interested when she mentioned it to her.
Condundrum….. I am not getting her center stone till she passes.(Which I hope it not till 20 + years from now) .. DP and I are planning on getting engaged this year. I really dont want him to spend alot of money on a beautiful stone that he picks out, to take it out and replace it with her stone.
What to do in the interum??

Thanks Soon2B MrsS —- I have… and thought about mentioning it to DP.(who Im sure will inhale deeply and which I was simple.. haha) .. I have searched up alot on them and feel like half the people say yes there gorg, look like diamonds etc etc.. and the other half people say No, they have crazy colors in them… dont do it… My setting would remain the same.. and that would be all real diamonds, and I would wonder if it would look funny with a mossy stone set in real diamonds.

@fashionbug: Yea, I’ve never seen one in real life so I’m not sure about that but you could also get a really good CZ like they have in most rings to display at jewelry stores. I can never tell the difference in those!

A lot of ladies have diamond settings with a moissanite center stone. This might be a good, affordable compromise for the interim until you have your grandmother’s stone. Then, you can use the moissanite for either a right hand ring or a pendant. Or sell it. 🙂

Also white topaz or white sapphire are cheaper alternatives!
