also, since a PP mentioned you posted your rings in a different thread, I had to look. It’s a stunner, thats for sure, but it makes this situation even more confusing than it already was.

When we first got engaged I did not want a wedding band. Now I’ve decided I do, but it definitely is not going to happen $$ wise right now. I’m not even bringing it up to Fiance right now, but will let him know that for our 1 or 5 year anniversary, I’d love to get a band.

I dont mean to be harsh, but I almost feel like OP posted this hoping someone would magically drop some dinero in her hands or something. She did not seem receptive to anyone’s suggestions, and really, if you need money or want to save money, its not that difficult to find ways to do it…

I think the OP just thought that she really was being financially responsible…and honestly, I think sometimes people live in denial about their financial situation because they are not exposed to the financial realities of their friends very much. We see what people buy, but we don’t know if that was on cash or credit or if they are saving or what.

So it’s easy to think we are being “financially smart” when we are not. We say to ourselves “Oh, we don’t need 8 months expenses saved! We will NEVER be unemployed THAT long” and then the car breaks down and we call it an “unexpected expense” and suddenly there isn’t enough money.

It really just seems that the OP got in over her head and cannot admitt that she made a poor choice to spend 14K on a wedding when she had so much debt. It happens, we want to believe it will all work out because we are smart people with good jobs…unfortunately, sometimes, it doens’t workout and we have to make sacrifices.

@organicgal: I think that was a little rude.  I don’t think she was looking at all for hand outs, but was really struggling with where to come up with the money.  Looks like there is a happy ending, but still, I don’t think anyone comes here with financial hardships just looking for perfect strangers (who are all planning weddings, so we are mostly broke!) to give them money.

@mhackney21:  UMM did you read what I wrote??? I was saying that I thought the other poster was rude for putting that you were asking for handouts, and that I didn’t think anyone would come here and do that. I was defending you!
