Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion, Come What May from Moulin Rouge, or At The Beginning (With You) by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis

Although all those might be cheesy.

Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls is good, Sadness and Whiskey by Bob Evans, or Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks

We did “my everything” by Michael Buble because we wanted something upbeat that was still danceable and it was great.

I feel like Fiance and I felt the same way as you guys – we wanted something with meaningful lyrics, that wasn’t too cheesey and was still cool. We are going with Love and Affection by Matt White (not to be confused with the Rihanna song, which is completely different lol).

I’m thinking country probably isn’t your thing, but our first dance song will be “Then” by Brad Paisley.

My best friend just used “A thousand Years” by Christina Perri, another wedding I went to they used Jason Mraz’s “lucky” (i think)… something a little more “cool” maybe listen to “Me and you” by dave matthews, or “first day of my life” by the bright eyes

Our first dance song will be “Forever’s as far as I’ll go” by Alabama. It’s an oldie but a goodie

Ours was ‘Swing Life Away’ by Rise Against. I love the lyrics and the band is a favourite of both of us. We wanted something that wasn’t too cheesy or overly romantic. I just love the line: “If love is a labour I’ll slave til the end, I won’t cross these streets until you hold my hand”

How about islands by the xx? It’s got a cool factor and great meaning behind the lyrics.

I would suggest, I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, I’d Love To Be Your Last by Gretchen Wilson, Where Do I Begin by Shirley Basset, or You Belong To Me by The Dupree’s (or someone else if you prefer), all very old school but absolutely perfect for a dance between you and your one and only.

Wynonna’s cover of Elvis’s “Burning Love” is ours!

My fiance and I had the exact same problem. I wanted a happy fun danceable song about love (not breakups or pain); he passionately hates all cheesy music and most happy music. He even hates Michael Buble! *le sigh*

Then one night we were randomly watching Lilo & Stitch, and at the very end, end Wynnona covers “Burning Love” (which is my favorite version of that song). Without thought or warning, he grabbed me and started dancing with me to it. Suddenly we realized it was perfect! We’re choreographing a super fun dance to it, too. I can’t freakin’ WAIT. (there is a goofy Stitch laugh at the beginning of all the recordings of that cover, but we’re cutting it out.)

“Something In Common” by Free Energy also had that effect on my Fiance, but I vetoed it after a detailed read-through of the lyrics, which are super important to me (very fun song otherwise, though).

I also strongly considered the beautiful epic “One Day Like This” by Elbow, but you’d have to trim that one down quite a bit.

We are using Charlie Wilson “You Are”. He has a ton of great songs but more on the R&B side.
