So, i am about 5’0 (although will be wearing substantial heels on the big day) and have hugely struggled when trying on dresses. I am a UK size 8 (US size 4??).
All the dresses have been so big on me and so long and just out of proportion so have found it really hard to see how things would actually look on me. Also in the UK they don’t really let you take photos and its hard to take a sneaky one so can’t show you any dresses i have tried on! 🙁
I have now decided i will get a dress made for me as most dresses i tried on are not made specifically for my height, just altered to death!
In love with lace or tulle too but cant decide on style. I know my bridesmaids like me in mermaid/fishtail gowns but worried they may also make me look short??? Being a shorty i HATE being called cute/sweet. I want to look like a woman on my wedding day not a cute small girl! 🙂 Errr…. help??
I have eliminated ball gowns as they swamp me and actually make me look bigger than i am.
Anyway i wanted your opinions on the following dresses as these are the styles i am considering. If any of you petite brides have worn similar dresses please post pics (and height)! Any suggestions also welcome (with pics please if poss).
Below I only have pics of other people/models wearing the dresses, who are obviously taller than me, so will look much better!
Thank you xxxxxx

i think the dress in black and white that shows just the back of it is AMAZING (i guess it’d be the second dress) do you know what designer these dresses are from? i’d love to know who made the second and third dress….

I know they are amazing!! They don’t sell either of them where i live (From UK but living in Dubai)…
First one with the stunning train is by a designer called Inbal Dror – israeli i believe and only has a shop there – all the dresses are truly amazing and similar in style.
Second i found on Pinterest and is by an australian designer i think? Called Pallas Couture.
Both expensive! But beautiful hence why i cannot decide which dresses to take inspiration from!!

Hi Doll! I have very similar body and measurements as you and I thought i would be helpful. Israeli designers are great for our body type!
I was always in love with Galia Lahav and Inbal Dror before i was engaged. I was sure i would get an Inbal. Then i saw Berta Bridal. She is also Israeli. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Inbal and Galia, but really there is nothing that can compare to a Berta dress.
Berta has similar styles but the WOW factor is ridiculous and everything she creates is soo soooo unique. And Bertas prices are lower 😉
If you want to see pics of my dress go to bertabridalsale.wordpress.com

@M Starr: I am a petite bride also. I am 5 foot 1 and weigh 98 pounds. I ended up going with a mermaid style as I found that style best accentuated my body. I think as a petite woman you can’t go with anything too big like a ball gown as you mentioned since it will just drown you. I think if your friends are digging you in a mermaid you should go for it without worrying about the height thing. Especially if you are wearing high heels I don’t think a mermaid would make you look short.
