Have you tried looking at BlueNile.com?  They should have a bunch of stuff and I know it only takes about a week to get the dress.

Where do you live?  We may be able to recommend boutiques near you where you can buy off the rack.

Try Nordstrom! They have a TON of bridal gowns that aren’t poofy, but have that more sleek vibe like the Max Azria did. Good luck!

Do you have a Nicole Miller store near you?  My best friend bought her wedding dress there & it was delievered to her office within a week.  Her dresses are also very understated yet elegant & there are a lot of them for under $1,000.

That would be the FIRST place I would try!

You can check out the bridal collection online as well, to see if anything strikes you:

Good luck!

Go to a salon and see if you can buy a sample gown

Have you tried Once Wed and classifieds?  I feel like you can find something absolutely wonderful that will make you feel like a princess that way (and won’t break the bank)!

I don’t think you’ll be able to get a traditional dress unless you want to buy a sample size (which are usually cheaper usually) and get it altered REALLY quickly (which might be expensive). Or you could try finding a gown to rent.

I understand not wanting to get married in a dress that you don’t feel "bridal" in…but it is just a dress. During your wedding, you’re going to feel bridal because you’re getting married, not because your dress is a traditional gown.

Definitely wear your dress to the rehearsal dinner, though, if you’re planning on getting another dress. That way you can play up the white, and know that you’re going to look fabulous!

I know you don’t really want to try DB, but go in there just once and have a look around.

I didn’t want to go to DB to buy a dress, but I’ve been looking at boutiques for dresses under 1K, and then went to David’s. The dresses are cheaper, but the quality feels better! I haven’t bought my dress yet, still trying to decide, but they had lots of styles in-store that were beautiful, and more modern than many of the others I tried on. Plus, you can buy off the rack and get rush alterations.

If you really don’t want to go to David’s, look for used dresses on your local craigslist. A friend of mine found hers that way, plus unlike other sites, it was close by so she could go and try it on before buying.

CHeck with local consignment shops. I found one where the owner had bought 10 dresses at a bridal store going out of business and was selling them for 250 brand new with tags! Also, check local towns maybe some that are going out of business. Hope this helps! good luck!

I second the idea of checking out Davids Bridal! I went with my friend to get a dress for her bridesmaids there and looked around and they have quite a lot to offer. They have many dresses that mimic designers and some are actually their "designer lines" and cost a little more, and are a nice quality. The commercials on tv only talk about the the $99 dress sales, but check out the site 🙂

Good luck!!

I know you have tried on your dress, but have you put it on with full hair and makeup? It seems silly, but those extra touches can really make a difference. Plus, your wedding day is full of so much anticipation and emotion and I don’t think those feelings come about because of the dress, if you know what I mean. I think the wedding you descirbed, with this dress, are going to be so unique… no wait YOUnique, and that is what matters I think.
