I have the same problem! They just said to keep it out of bright places so it doesnt change colors. I put it in a dark closet thats cool and unzipped the bag a little.

Same thing happened to me. Walked in, bought sample. They offered to store it for me (for FREE) until my wedding day. You could ask?

As long as your garment bag isn’t plastic, you should be fine hanging it in a closet. I had mine for almost a year too. The plastic bags don’t allow the fabric to breathe, which can cause discoloration. Make sure your bag is fabric and you’ll be fine.

Hang in a cloth bag to keep it clean and let the air flow.

Asking the store to keep it is a good idea. I would just be afraid that they’d resell it, give it to another bride who wanted same thing, same size by accident, etc and so on.

Yes, I got a Master’s degree in paranoia.

@honeybee1999:  I agree & understand.  Knowing it is at my parent’s house means one less thing to worry about.  Besides, I bought it online so no option of store storage. Smile

I bought my dress a year and a half before our wedding and had it preserved so I didn’t have to worry about yellowing or anything. I think it was $100 if you bought the kit the day you got the dress and $50 more if you didn’t. Our wedding is still 7 months away and I am itching for the day I can take it out and put it on again!!!

I just bought a sample today and they are keeping my dress for free until my wedding day. I would ask if they do that because otherwise you run the risk of it getting ruined. If nothing else find a colored garment bag to store it in, in a back closet away from moisture.

If you don’t have a cloth garment bag, you can also use white cotton sheets! Just sandwich the dress in between the sheets, safety-pinning the top of the sheets together.
