Fiance and I have only been engaged for about 6 months and our wedding is just under a year away. Already we have the big stuff booked (DJ- including uplighting, Photographer, Reception Hall- which includes bar and caterer, the Church, the limos are being provided as a wedding gift, wedding party picked out, Bridesmaid or Best Man dressed picked, Tuxes picked, flowers (paper) started, favor stuff (DIY) ordered, paper stuff designed, and my dress). Now that all of that is done, I feel like I am at a stand-still, because honestly there really isn’t much more I can do for another 6 months. My being uber organized has taken the fun out of planning the wedding. Fiance and I have been together for over six years, so we are excited to take this next step together. I am the most excited about being husband and wife and making that committment to each other, but I feel like I have lost the oomph and enthusiasm about the wedding itself.
Now please, I’m not saying I’m not excited about getting married, because I am. I am marrying the love of my life and I could not be more excited about it. I guess I’m just more excited at the thought of the marriage than the wedding itself (which I know is important and probably a good sign at Fiance and I’s relationship), but the wedding is important to a lot of people and I don’t want my lack of enthusiasm to to disappoint anyone.
Is there anyone else who has felt this way? Any ideas about how to pep up my wedding planning limbido (ha!).

How DIY savy are you? I think ALOT of DIY projects will make you more excited and keep you busy…

@MsPanda: Oh I’m very DIY saavy. I already know I am doing all of the flowers, aisle runners, bouts, corsages, invites and that kind of thing. But the invites are done, just need to be printed off when we get closer, and I don’t want to start the flowers until I move back to Iowa with the Fiance (We are LDR right now until August). I’m not even sure what more DIY projects I can do! hahaha!

Start early what you can… I have done TONS of DIY projects and as planning organized as I’ve been I’m now BEHIND and I have just days to get things done…. and I even had that same feeling you’re having now, right about the same time in planning.
Take your projects on slowly but keep doing them… and enjoy your down time b/c I promise.. come your 2 mth mark you’re gonna get that “I’m behind” feeling and it’s better to be done way ahead then be in you “week of” still trying to finish things up.

Oh you could also start taking care of the “details” like:
Music for ceremony
Processional Bridal Party
Any Special songs
Music for Reception
Do Not Play
Like to Have
Don’t want (this could save you time on the big day)
Since you have your venue locked down & I’m assuming time since your invites are ready for printing you could start
Day of Timeline
And I’m sure if you get with a site that has checklists and such you could find MUCH more….
Oh.. it’s never to early to shop jewelry and Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts… put together day of emergency kit(s) or even Menu selections.
Hope that helps some =)
