@mumeishi:  If you shave or do any kind of hair removal, it may be an ingrown hair. That’s usually what these things turn out to be. It could also be a cyst, a pimple, or some kind of STD. You have the right idea – go to the doctor to confirm.

@mumeishi:  It’s probably a Bartholian cyst. I get them occasionally. Mine start to really hurt and eventually pop (GROSS!). They go away after a couple of weeks. Unless it stays for a while, I wouldn’t worry about it 🙂

Or a cyst…. I once had a lump in the same area that was quite large, the size of a quarter maybe but felt deep and more like a full sphere shape, not just a round disc shape (if that makes sense).  I was only like 14, so it was DEF not an STD lol.  The gynocologist told me it was a cyst and to hold a warm compress to it and take some warm baths, I think with epsom salts.  It went away on it’s own.  But if yours is closer to the size of a pimple, I’d be more inclined to guess it was an ingrown – which can hurt or itch, sometimes pop.  They go away on their own too

@mumeishi:  soak it with alcohol/witchhazel until it comes out on its own

DON’T try to pop it. I know easier said than done.

TMI ALERT I am such a popper, but I got one in the space between my thigh and my bikini area that I tried to pop. Big mistake. It swelled to the size of a golf ball (baseball all around) and it hurt to walk for a day or two before it popped on its own. It was disgusting.

@anneh1990:  +1 This, or some other pimple (like a sebaceous cyst). I get them too, every so often. Very annoying, especially if it hurts, but it usually goes away on its own.

Still, if you can get to the doctor, it’s not a bad idea to mention it.

Well, this is a TMI topic, so I guess I don’t need the disclaimer, but I get these from time to time, the first one freaked me out and I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I ended up popping it, and it was basically just a zit down there and once it popped it went away in less than a day.  I had one that was more like wouldyoukindlyy that got a bit bigger (definitely not that big though) and hurt more before draining/popping on it’s own.

This kind of pain/added swelling is because it did pop, just the wrong direction, spreading the “gunk” to more tissue on the inside before pushing back out again.

If it doesn’t hurt I wouldn’t mess with it, chances are it’ll go away on it’s own in a few days. If it’s getting substantially bigger or starts to hurt (without you messing with it) then I’d recommend a visit to the doctor.

Happens to me every few months in the one same spot.

Dont pop it- itll become huge & embarassing.

If you want it to go away faster, put hot washclothes on it (as hot as you can tolerate) which will open up the pores & help it disappear faster.

Not a DR but this helped me 🙂

@mumeishi:  Honestly I wouldn’t even bother going to the doctor yet. I’d wait a bit (unless you have awesome insurance that covers 100% of the visit). I got one of these a few months ago and was really freaked out, but after a few days it went away and all was back to normal.

Chances are if it’s just one bump (no clusters or anything) and not painful/causing discomfort — it’s nothing to worry about and will go away on it’s own.

Every so often I’ll get a cyst down there and learned the hard way as others mentioned that it’s better left alone except for the occasional hot wash cloth.
