So I purchased my dress a few weeks back and I have no idea what type of dresses to have my girls wear? I’m not sure if they should wear short/long/tea length? What style?
I keep reading about all these “rules” and what not but I’m more about the look of the wedding then the rules!
-Vera Wang ‘White’ Ivory chiffon trumpet style dress (see picture)
-Outdoor ceremony/Indoor reception at 4:30-5pm in Florida (usually in the mid-low 70’s maybe 60’s)
-Colors are gray, navy & yellow…I would like the girls to wear navy b/c the groomsmen are wearing gray suits. I don’t care if they all match b/c I’m in love with the “not matching” look.
-We are going for a polished/clean southern look

I’m thinking something tea length, and not too dark in color. Navy is a brutal color to stand in the sun in, so I’d stick with yellow or gray as long as the girls say those colors work with their skin tone. (Fair skinned people usually don’t look good in yellow or gray if it’s too light.) May I throw in these two suggestions:

Enzoani has some gorgeous dresses in their “Love” collection in colors like Midnight Blue and Blueberry. I’m having trouble finding pics of the dresses in those colors to attach to this post but you should definitely check them out. The first two dresses are Enzoani, the second two are from Nordstrom:

I’d say just above the knee would be a great length, anything from shortish to tea length would work good, I think. If you do pick a long one I feel like it would have to be really slim and simple to not be too similar/competing to yours

I would go with grey dresses, tea length.

Firstly – gorgeous wedding dress 🙂
Secondly, ignore any ‘rules’, it’s all about how you feel and what you want. Personally I would choose a simplistic full length dress for your Bridesmaid or Best Man, in a pale yellow. For the time of year that you’re having your wedding, this would work well. Alternatively, if you’re keen on having navy dresses, tea-length definitely works best x

Try looking a J.Crew. They have navy, grey and yellow. Plus their dresses range from more casual to formal and all of your bridesmaids can find that perfect fit! I think short dresses would be best, but their is something I just love about a long strapless chiffon dress (second link) there is something so elegant and simple about it. Beautiful dress by the way. Just fantastic.

I’d do cocktail length in navy. Yellow is a hard color to pull off and you said you want to stay away from gray. Your wedding isn’t formal enough to require floor length dresses and tea length tends to only be flattering on tall, thin women because it cuts your calfs at their widest point and makes you look more “squat.” But if your girls are all tall and thin, then tea-length would be fine.
