DH and I just moved into our first house. We’re working on getting our place set up and getting new furniture.
I saw this IKEA hack online, and fell in love.
I bought the dressers, but I’m not sure what color to paint them. This is our bed and the wall behind it.
Our other bedspread is golds ans browns (both made by MIL and unlikely to change any time soon…)
The other walls in our room are a light gray.
So bees, what color should I paint our bedside tables?

I’m boring, so I’d probably give them a nice dark stain if you want to keep the look of wood, or paint them white.

I’d probably paint them with a silver furniture paint, and then go over it with another coat of furniture paint in white or chalk. Then I’d distress the edges so that the silver faintly shows through. The blue of your walls is so bright (it’s lovely, by the way!) that I wouldn’t want to put anything too contrasting with it.

BubblesandCupcakes : oh I like that idea!! It is a bright wall. I don’t want to complete with it, but I wasn’t them to look special.
My coworker said white, but I’m not a huge fan of stark white furniture. Chalk paint is an interesting idea.
pinkshoes : I don’t really care about it looking like wood, but a dark stain could be nice, our floors are dark hardwood though and I think it might look off.

I’d do a bright white I think. I’d line the back with a blue and white wallpaper. Something floral though to play off the geometric pattern in your quilt. Framed print above with a lamp 🙂

Something like this for the paper….
And something like this above….

I would stain the outside box a dark stain and paint the drawers.

MsGinkgo : if you’re keeping those colours then either mustardy colour as in your bedspread or the pale grey you mention is in the room.

Grey or black! I think you need to have something dark in there with so much bright colors and white.

I vote mustard yellow 🙂 or white with mustard pulls

MsGinkgo : I was going to say yellow, agree with the mustard colour suggestion above too. I like your colours by the way.

I think a dove gray with gold hardware would be very trendy and fashionable. You could even distress the edges and add some gold metallic paint streaks on the surfaces and distressed edges. For the paper I would keep it interesting/contrasting to the spread/and metallic. Since the bed spread is geometric I would do a floral metallic paper that will match the paint.

If not a light neutral, then a dark grey chalk paint.

I’d say white or light gray, then if you take the top drawer out, you could put some mustard wallpaper or paint inside. And get cute colorful drawer pulls

I’d paint the drawers the same muted yellow as seen in your bed spread. It’s a nice neutral without being plain old white.
