GAH! My wedding is 162 days away, which is basically 5 months, and I feel like I have so much to do still. My head is spinning! I can’t focus on one thing, there’s so much! Right about now is when I really wish I had hired a wedding planner! lol
Honestly I just can’t wait for it to be over! I just want to be married and not stressed out any more. The overwhelming task of figuring out who I am actually inviting is killing me! There’s so many people that keep asking me if their invited, half of them I have only known for a month or so. I need to get working on my invitations, but that just seems impossible to me. All along I really just wanted to design my own, I wanted hand drawn invitations, something unique and personal. Instead I bought a very cheap kit of 50 plain white square invites in silver envelopes. Originally silver was a big color in my wedding, now it’s really not. The only grey aspect is the MOH’s dress and the table napkins (maybe). So they just don’t fit the over all theme any more. But I just have to make do.
Recently I was asked to write an article for a small magazine out of Michigan and that just took up so much of my time the last few weeks and I lost track of all the wedding stuff and how close it was really getting. When my Future Mother-In-Law told me “you know, it’s only 5 months away…” I almost had a panic attack! lol Okay maybe not that drastic, but it was bad.
Any bees out there remember their 5 month mark? Or any that are at the 5 month mark that are feeling like pulling their hair out? What should be my main focus right now? What do I need to worry about getting done? I feel so lost in space. I’ve got a lot of my decor figured out, but even that’s still jumbled up and in question sometimes. My dress is not fitted, I don’t have my shoes or my veil…I am just lost!

The five month mark for me was when I got my ring — short engagement!! So trust me, you will have plenty of time if you’ve already started thinking about things. If I could get a whole wedding organized in five months, then you will be fine 🙂

Don’t worry, you still have lots of time! If most of your big things and decor are figured out, you are fine in terms of timing. I was around the same stage of planning as you are at the 5-month mark.
As for the invitations, don’t worry if they match. I had my invitations done at a very nice, well-respected paper store and, when I suggested matching my invitations to my wedding colours/decor, the invitation consultant actually suggested that I not do that. She warned me not to be too matchy-matchy as invitations are their own entity and can stand alone – they don’t need to “match” the rest of the wedding colours. So we (by choice) went with a style that matched our overall wedding feel but are using colours (cream and charcoal) that we are not our wedding colours. So I wouldn’t worry about it at all! You’re invitations will be great 🙂

*sigh* thanks ladies! I just need to breathe and get focused lol. Everything is stored in bags and boxes in my FIs grandpas attic so it feels like I have no control over whats happening with my stuff. i have pictures and plans on my phone, but it’s all still kind of jumbled. Money is a big stresser right now, but I can’t let that get me down. I know this wedding isn’t about how much I spend, the end result will still be the same. A happy successful marriage is what we all hope for, right?!
It’s good to know I am in better shape then I thought! I felt so far behind! lol

I am now almost at 4 months, and I FREAKED OUT when I hit 5 months. Not sure why. Now that I am at 4 months, I am much calmer… crazy how that works! I think freaking out made Fiance move on some of the stuff I was waiting on him to make decisions. Five months will go by fast, but really, it’s a lot of time. It’s like a whole semester!
If I were you, I’d finalize the guest list first. It’s still too early for dress fittings (my dress won’t even come in until next month), but you could start looking at shoes and veils (bought mine on ebay for $15). If you don’t have all your vendors yet, do that ASAP so they don’t get booked up. Everything that you are doing yourself, I say just start on some things! You’ll feel so much better when you can start crossing things off your list, even if they’re small things!
