Ahhh I’m trying to figure out what would be nice and appropriate gifts for the parents…we’re getting married at the end of October and our parents have paid for the majority of everything for the wedding. I’ve finished buying all the bridesmaid’s gifts but am completely stuck on what to get my mom & dad, as well as his mom and dad!
Any thoughts?! THANKS!

I agree – wedding presents for the parents are so hard to decide on! We are probably going with wedding albums for our parents. Nothing out of the norm…but when they have everything they need, what do you get them?! My other thoughts would be maybe a weekend getaway or tickets to something they both enjoy. Perhaps treat them to dinner at a nice restaurant or even have both parents over for a nice meal at your place. I’m sure they will appreciate anything you get them 🙂

I always ask around for advice…the parents gift was no exception. Funny thing was…everyone told me that we shouldn’t buy the parents a gift? I was a little shocked by that…so I kept asking around and everyone said the same thing. I eventually asked my stepmom ( I ask her stuff like that) and she said that she has never seen that nor did they buy parents gifts when she got married. The best thing anyone told me was that if we just HAD to give them something…get them a nice frame and then a picture from the wedding after we get them back.

I am giving both our mothers a matching Tiffany Bracelet like the one I have so we can share a mother/daughter thing. Im still stuck on something for the dads though. Just give them something that comes from the heart and I’m sure they would love it!

I know, it is hard right?! Thanks for all your input ladies!
I agree and like the idea of giving them a gift certificate for a nice night out – that way it covers both fathers & mothers in one shot! Ah simplicity….I actually think both our parents would appreciate that! And interesting to hear that people say you don’t have to do that….well hey, this is why I’m asking around b/c I’m clueless! haha
The bracelet is a cute idea, too…so everyone has something that matches….

I did a little DIY action for my parents. I made them a family tree showing the new connections between our family and my husband’s. I thought it demonstrated how we are all family now and connected. My parents loved it and framed it. You can get the family tree kit from Micheals in the scrapbooking section.

We did a leather bound photo book as well. They loved it! My mom carries hers to work so she can show her co-workers *laugh*

I definitely like the photo book idea. Post wedding…so what do you wrap and give to them at rehearsal? A photo of the photo book?

I gave them a bottle of wine with a card that said something along the lines of “Thank you for all your love and support. As a thank you for everything you have done we are making you a photobook of all the wedding pictures etc. etc”
