- Wedding: July 2014
If this sounds familiar its because I posted this a coupe of days ago, but I forgot a huge detail…I am just recently engaged and am having a tough time deciding where to have my wedding. I am from Kansas, met my fiance there, my whole family is there, his whole family is there, and all of our friends. We JUST moved to NY and have been here a month, I don’t have a job yet, he does (we moved for his work), so needless to say I don’t know anyone here yet. Our wedding date is so that we will have been here a year and a half by the time we are married. The only thing is, the town where we met, went to school I grew up, etc is where my parents live, but will be moving to Tennessee next summer, so they won’t be there anymore. His parents live an hour away from our town. I was planning on having it in our hometown and that way out of town family could stay with my parents, and I was planning on having the rehearsal dinner at their house, and the morning after breakfast, opening presents, and other stuff. Now that we won’t have my parents there, really the only people we know there are a few friends, and old coworkers. Our grandparents and other extended family live throughout KS, and my parents will be in TN. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea where I should plan a wedding!!Should I start planning it here to make it easier for us, or plan it somewhere in KS where everyone who will be a part of/invited to our wedding live? I’m afraid if I have it here, not many people will come since it will be so expensive for travel, hotel, food, etc. But if I have it in KS, where the heck do I have it?? My grandparents have a really pretty house, and their city is an hour away from his family and a lot of my fam lives right around there. I don’t really know a lot about the area though. I don’t even want to think about planning an entire wedding from half the country away either….What do you all think??
P.S. I will NOT get married in the town his parents live in. We lived there briefly and its a horrible place. There wouldn’t even be a venue that would be acceptable…
