Bees, I need your help! I recently moved across the country, and with 6 months to go on my big day I’m finally thinking about getting my dress altered. HOWEVER, I have absolutely no idea where to go! How did you guys find your seamstresses? And on the off chance that any of you are in the Central New Jersey area, do you have any reccomendations?
Thanks!

I don’t live in Central NJ (although I did grow up there!), but I was able to find the name of respected seamstresses in my area by seaching local boards on The Knot. Another way would be to look at the reviews on this site or on weddingwire. Generally an independent seamstress will be a better value than the store where you bought the dress. Good luck!

You can call some local bridal stores/salons in your area and ask who they recommend??

My mother called a tux/formalwear rental shop in the area, and they recommended one of their seamstresses who does dress alterations on the side from her home. She charged $45 to shorten it and put in a bustle—David’s initial quote was in excess of $200.
