I used to have the same problem, but I started using the primer for bare minerals and it has worked the best for me.

Have you tried a setting powder?

I’ve used MUFE microfinish powder since the wedding and it works really well! I’ll still get makeup on my phone occasionally if I have long convo’s but my makeup stays on all day and I live in South Texas!

And I liked Monistat Chaffing Gel as a primer better than the “expensive” stuff… it’s the same ingredients as Smashbox Photofinish primer only WAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper =)

This stopped for me when I started spraying Urban Decay De Slick on my face before and after makup application.

My first bit of advice is to stop toning your face. It may seem backwards, but stripping your face of too much natural oil causes your skin to produce MORE oil to replace what’s been lost. I get oily on my forehead and especially my nose just a couple hours after cleansing, so I know how you feel about makeup seeming to melt off. Here’s what works for me:

1. At night, I remove my makeup by cleansing with something gentle, like Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple or DHC Cleansing Oil.

2. Pat dry and moisturize.

3. In the morning, I cleanse my face with warm or cool (just not hot!) water. I don’t need to use cleanser again because I don’t want to completely strip my face. Plus, there’s no makeup to remove or anything, so my skin isn’t “dirty.”

4. Pat dry, moisturize, and apply foundation. After all my makeup is done, I set my base with a translucent powder.

5. Every couple of hours, I gently blot any oily areas with a tissue. Just press and remove. Don’t wipe – you don’t want your makeup to come off. Reapply powder if necessary.

If you can make the changes to your skincare routine, it might take a while (a couple of weeks to a month, maybe) to see results. But eventually, the less oil you strip from your face, the less oil your face will produce. If you decide to try this, good luck! Let me know how it turns out – it’s worked really well for me.

My foundation doesn’t budge all day even when I sweat. Here’s what I do.

1. I spritz Urban Decay’s All Nighter or De Slick Setting spray (depending on whether or not I’m having a greasy day) first all over my clean face.

2. I then apply Smashbox’s Photofinish Color Adjust primer (you can use Monistat’s anti-chafing gel as a primer like amnystik mentioned but I need the colour correction so I use the expensive stuff) and let that set for about a minute.

3. I then apply my Paula Dorf Oil Free Foundation with a Smashbox foundation brush and blend with my fingers.

4. I set that with a powder (Smashbox Halo, Urban Decay De Slick or Urban Decay Razor Sharp depending on the day).

5. I spritz again with the setting spray.
