Hello all,
So I dyed my naturally dark ash blonde hair dark about a month ago. It came out MUCH darker than expected – it originally looked almost black in the shade. It’s faded to a dark brown with some red hints to it now. I just got engaged this Sunday (yay!) and am now freaking out about the color. I do not want to have this hair color for my wedding. Plus, I’ve realized how low maintenance I am and know that I won’t keep up this color anyways. So now I have lighter roots that sort of look like I’m greying (I’m 26). Eek! I have an appointment with my hair colorist next week. But I’m not sure 1) what they will probably end up doing to fix this and 2) how long this will take.
Do any of y’all have advice or suggestions? I would apprecaite it! Thank you!!

The first thing you have to remember is that you’re not getting married tomorrow. Color fades and hair grows out. The can definitely strip the color out of your hair, but this can be pretty damaging. I would talk to your colorist and see what they suggest, but it may be worth it to just wait it out for a bit. I know it’s not the most attractive look at the moment, but you don’t want to destroy your hair if you can avoid it.

Let your stylist fix it! Take it from one who knows, the more you mess with it, the worse it will get. It’s time to hand it over to a professional. Tell her exactly what you want and she can tell you what’s doable and keep from getting your hair fried in the process. They have the knowledge, the tools and the products.
The last time I tried to do my own color some of you probably weren’t even born yet. I ruined it. Went to a salon that specializes in blonde hair. The stylist said he’d ‘see what he could do’. It came out *gorgeous*! For all of $40.
I learned my lesson.
