Random question, sorry.
So Fiance and I need to buy a refridgerator and we have different opinions on them.
He wants the freezer on top type of fridge because he has easy access to the freezer without having to bend over. I like the freezer on the bottom because the fridge is eye level.
Bees, which do you perfer??

Freezer on the bottom styles are more efficient.
From Consumer Energy Center
Refrigerators with the freezer on either the bottom or top are the most efficient. Bottom freezer models use approximately 16 percent less energy than side-by-side models and top freezer models use about 13 percent less than side-by-side.
Aside from cost efficiency, freezer on the bottom works best for me as I am in the fridge section many times per day,and the freezer section way less often, so this decreases the bending over that is necessary to remove fruits and veg from the crispers.

I also prefer the freezer on the bottom because you tend to have a lot more room.

Freezer on the bottom is best. we have an old school freezer on top type of fridge but it came with the apartment, when we eventually get a house we will be getting the freezer on the bottom french door style fridge.

We had that same dilemma but I LOVE having the freezer on the bottom , more storage and just looks more modern 🙂

I can’t help b/c I love having the freezer on top. I’ve used all three and for my last fridge, I went old-fashioned and back to freezer on top! but use that energy savings to argue your point for sure!

I prefer the freezer on top, basically because I hate having to rummage through the drawers to find things on the bottom

@MrsSl82be: The one downfall about the freezer on the bottom is the drawer. I wish they would create a better solution than the pull out drawer.

@SoontobeMsL: I totally agree. Until then, a regular old top freezer will be in my house!

I have one of each, and while I love the fridge being at eye level, I hate the pull out basket for the freezer at the bottom. Everything just gets tossed in their on top of each other and it’s so easy to lose stuff. I’m a 50/50 split. If you use your freezer A LOT, I’d say go with the top freezer.

Freezer on bottom is more expensive… but that’s probably b/c they’re better. We have a side by side.

I’ve heard of a bunch of people have problems with freezer on bottom. If you have a lot of stuff in there and over stuff since its easy to just drop it in the draw and close it, you can block the vent to the freezer… apparently that’s pretty bad for it. My mom’s told me that this happen to at least 3 people she knows of with bottom freezers and broke them.

I really dislike the freezer on the bottem because I hate the pull out drawer. There is really no good way to organize it.
I like the side by side since everything is easy to get to, but you don’t seem to get nearly as much space.
Therefore, my overall favorite is freezer on top (with side-by-side taking the number 2 spot).

I would ask yourself how much you use your freezer? We use our fridge stuff more, so it is nice to have better access to all the fridge stuff.
