@mjfaris6:  I prefer one of the the longer version of Josie… this way you, friends and family  can call her Josie, and she can decide for herself if she’s introducing herself as Josie as well or chooses to use her full name for some occasions (like professional life)

@mjfaris6:  Josephine is what one of the baby name books I’ve looked at would call a “Porch sitter” name.. very old lady! But in a good way! Joselyn is more modern, Josephine more classic! If you’re calling her Josie, i don’t think you can go wrong either way. I like Lillian as wel 🙂

@mjfaris6:  Great middle name choice!  I am a little biased since that is mine 🙂 I love Josie Rae, but if you want something longer then I would go with Joselyn.

I voted Joselyn Rae. I agree with @Kili: that your friends/family can call her Josie for short, but she will still have another name option when she gets older.

I also like Evelyn, but I don’t think Evelyn Rae sounds good toghether.

If you want to call her Josie, I’d go with Josephine/Josephina instead of Joselyn, just because it’s a closer match sound-wise. I know a Joscelin who goes by Joss since it’s a more natural nickname.

@sunsetchristy:  +1 i was going to say this. i don’t think anyone would call her Josie if she introduced herself as Joselyn.

I voted Josephine but upon further review (ha!) i think i would prefer just Josie, if you plan on her going by Josie. I have a long form name as my legal name and my parents always called me something else that is a bit of a stretch from my actual name. it has caused me CONSTANT headaches. so i’m all for simplifying and just calling her what you want her to be called. ya know? so i’d say josie.

I think the name Joselyn is very pretty and while it may not be so common I think people would understand the nickname Josie. I like the ideas of longer names that can be shortened. She may not want to be Josie as an adult?

I did vote for Lillian though… I have always loved the name and I think a little girl called Lily is so cute!

I really love all the names you have chosen. I think I ended up voting for Lillian, but don’t think you can go wrong. Make sure you update us when baby girl is born!

I love Josephine Rae and then shorten to Josie.  Works for a child and it’s a good grownup name too.

I loved old fashioned names so Josephine was my vote.

A friend of mine named her daughter Jocelyn after the female character in A Knight’s Tale with Heath Ledger.  Everyone calls her Jossy.

As far as picking out a name and nickname, if you want her to go by Josie, name her Josie.  My grandmother wanted my mom to be called Patty so she named her Patty because she was afraid if she named her Patricia people might call her Pat.
