I like both, but dress 2 looks more classic like the one my soon to be SIL wore at her wedding, and it was very pretty. I’m a sucker for the buttons myself, but ended up with a dress with just a zipper, but it’s very “me”. I am sorry a lady was rude about your frist choice – it’s really about what makes YOU feel good in it, regardles of other people having foot in mouth disease.
Once dress 2 is steamed I think you’ll like it more, and if you want to add the appliques to make it more “you” go for it. 🙂

sharkini: You look great in both but number 2 is my favorite. It flatters your figure and looks very classy. Those appliques give it just the right amount of bling.

I really like #1 actually. That tailor obviously has NO taste! If you want to look different from your friend’s dress, I’d totally wear the first, and since you added the buttons yourself, it’s “personalized” and special. I love the train in the back too. The only thing I’d do different is I’d add a sash with even MORE bling (but that’s because I LOVE sparkly things) but on a sash closer to the color of your dress, not contrast it. Just my opinion though. But the dress is beautiful! Don’t listen to that tailor!!!

I think you look wonderful in both and should wear the one that pleases you best. Personally I happen to prefer #2 but that comes with the giant caveat that I’m not a huge fan of lace. If you like the lace better then you should totally wear it — and it sounds like a better potential match for your venue as well. The person who had the audacity to laugh at your dress is an inconsiderate jerk.

Thanks ladies! Definitely glad to hear that the mean tailor is not a normal experience, thanks for your support.
@kaitlynaubrey01 it’s pretty much unheard of here (UK/France where our family are coming from) to have 2 dresses – I suggested it to my family and they laughed so much! 🙂 They thought I was confusing presenting an award ceremony with a wedding! But I might just do it anyway, it will be easier to dance in the first dress.
@gemabride thank you! I love the train too, and like you say the time spent sewing on the buttons definitely adds the personal touch…I should have posted on here after the tailor and before buying a second dress for a second opinion!

I love the lace on the first one, and the train, and the cap sleeves. I actually really love that dress. The other is a bit plain in my opinion but I do love the ruching. What is your venue and reception like? I think it would help to pick the one that goes more with your venue.

Dress #2 on its own (without embellishments) is perfect! Happy wedding 🙂
