There aren’t too many things that you have to pick a color for…I guess flowers, maybe cake decoration and table linens but you could stay pretty neutral with white or pick an accent color to do all those other things in.

There’s not rule that you have to have a color scheme AT ALL.  So do what you please.

Before we changed everything in the wedding we were going to have royal blue dresses with dark purple centerpieces.  So I think it works.  Smile

There is not rule about how many colors you can use in your decor either! You could make a beautiful color scheme with eggplant, royal blue, white and even another color! I think that the combination of blues and purples would be very elegant. I think this board with the aqua and the feathers is gorgeous!

@YellowBee3: great inspiration board!

@skyeatnight: there is no rule that you have to be matchy matchy for your wedding. I was going to do the exact same thing for a while (dark purple dresses but not much purple anywhere else) and I think it would look just fine. Go with what you love and it will all turn out beautifully! It’s actually in style right now to have weddings that don’t have a set color scheme, more like a big old color palette.

p.s. the only reason I switched from the purple is because I couldn’t find the shade of purple I was looking for in a dress style that I liked.

We actually changed it because we downsized our wedding and changed the date.  Our original date was January 22 with a snowflake theme centered around dark purple and royal blue with some ice blue thrown in.  But when we changed the date it was March 6 and moved to Charleston so we decided to embrace the Southern romantic feel and now don’t have a set color scheme just everything is centered around romance and most things are now pink.
