So I picked this beautiful outdoor venue without thinking too hard about a rain plan because I figured we could just add a tent. However, I saw a wedding held recently in a different space due to rain and did not get the same feel I thought I would have about the space. My dilemma is that I have no clue whether or not it really is going to rain since we are getting married in a rainy month and am not sure how far in advance you need to book or cancel a tent if this became necessary. I also did not realize how expensive tents could get and I really want to stay in budget. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, does how the reception alternate site looks even matter once you are going through the events of your wedding day? Thanks for your help 🙂

I also plan on getting married outside and I think the weather is just one of the downfalls to this plan. I would ask the venue what they have done in the event of rain. If they have been in business for a while I am sure they have had issues come up before. Maybe they can help you with some ideas.

@TerraMarie11: Very true in terms of the weather. I guess I was freaking out a bit. The venue is actually very new, so hopefully over the next several months they develop a concrete rain plan that I love. Thanks for the tip

We’re planning on an outdoor ceremony and a barn reception (on the same property) so our rain plan is just to move it inside the barn if necessary. It won’t be exactly the same feel, and while *I* wouldn’t mind having it outside in the rain, I’m not sure our guests would love it 😉

I bought a tent of the onternet, cost 1/3 the cost to rent and I can sell after.

Coming from a bride that her wedding day POURED! I Suggest having a back up plan. As my hubby use to tell me is to plan for worse case scenerio. Our ceremony was suppose to be outside but was moved indoors. I wouldn’t risk not being able to get a tent in time. Besides, even if it is a sunny beautiful day some people might want some shade!

kc3636I’m sorry to hear that it rained so much on your day. Thanks for your advice.
I am thinking long and hard about this venue and may have to make some tough choices soon.
