Hi Ladies,
I am bringing people into our hotel to get my hair/makeup done as well as the bridesmaids on the day of the wedding. My ceremony starts at 4p. We need to leave the hotel at 3:45p to get to the ceremony on time. We are not doing a first look. The company suggested we have hair/makeup done by 2p, but they will stick around until we leave for the ceremony. Is that normal? I am assuming they do that in case we run over? What is/was your schedule? I am going to talk to the company about the reason for it, but I wanted to know your thoughts first. Thanks!!

That sounds pretty normal. That way you guys can all have time to get dressed, pictures of you putting on dress, veil, shoes, etc. and a little time if they run over. Our ceremony is also at 4 and were having hair/make up from 8-11:30, but we are doing a first look.

@asagirl: that is normal. that way if people screw up their hair while getting dressed they are there to help you fix it. its always better to have plenty of time so you stay calm than to be rushed and stressed out.

@asagirl: My Ceremony was scheduled at 4:00. I had to go to a salon at 10:30 for hair, then to my venue for make up. The makeup artist was scheduled to show at 1:00 but I din’t get there until about 1:40 because my sister was running late. She also had to get her makeup done and was still running behind because she did my flowers and couldn’t stop working!! We eded up starting the ceremony at 4:45!! I really wanted to start no more than 15-20 min late (knowing a few family members would be late & our venue was a little hard to find). So definitely starting early is a good thing. There are a lot of factors that can get in the way! If they’re doing anything intricate with hair or make up, It could take them an hour and a half each! Are you doing a trial? That will also give you a better understanding. Although my hair girl took about twice as long on the wedding day because she added a lot more detail & my make up was a bit faster because we did a trial and he had it all mapped out.
