I think your other idea would be better- white flowers, and just a pink macaron. In general, I think a lot of the “long” centerpieces work because they continue for the length of the runner. Maybe if you did somthing more like this? I like how these vases are more minimalist, too. You can get similar ones from dollar tree

I would mix up the colors of flowers – instead of doing solid pink, add some white or ivory as well to soften the look and add some elegance.

The gold runner is fun and will probably look good, but you are going for Parisian/romantic, maybe you can look for runners that are more shimmery instead of sequins? (That could be hard; one of my colors was gold, which turned out to be a difficult color!)
