michellelynn9175 :  I totally understand you on the clean lines – you don’t want the metal to make it look bulky or busy. In that case you still can have the leaves that you like, but less of it and only on the center stone. You can have thin vines going from where the leaf/leaves holding the center stone begins (at the bottom), outward to hold the center stone. And then just clean thin metal vines holding the smaller stone from their own basket. It will achieve the harmony you are looking for, marrying all three baskets instead of them looking like standalone pieces, will eliminate the clutter and will keep the lines very precise and clean. Plus you still get the beautiful leaf shapes which I am personally very partial to! Does that make sense? Is that something you would like?

Also, hahaha I hope you are right! I was looking at the Tianyu thread and fell in love with the 4.5mm OEC band! Maybe I should get that πŸ˜‚ But since the lady with that band was a size 8, maybe I should go down to a 3.5mm. Debating between 5-stone or 7-stone though πŸ˜‚

this is so different from the beginning of your ring journey LOL. But so exciting !! bare in mind he can polish down the side profile and bars of the prongs (I had mine polished down so a ring would sit flush)

Also just make sure from the top view that the 2 side stones sit exactly where you want them to relevant to the centre stone. I do not like a gap on a 3 stone. And double check all the heights as well. I think the higher the better.

Also.. its worth considering going to 2.5mm. I think with a 3 stone and your finger size abit of solid is a good thing. 2mm is quite slim. But thats my personal preference. Mine is 2.5 and its perfect.

DK did my 3 stone and its glorious I love it so much; and now with my shared prong band its legit the tits and i dont even wear my honker cushion moissy!!

The only thing I don’t completely love is that the prongs look very large. In the CAD they look like they are really high, I would be worried about  bumping them. I love your drawing it’s gorgeous!

Hi Michelle, Just want to say I love your drawing too with somethingabitdifferent’s note about paying attention to the side stone top view. I’m sure David can work all that out. Very exciting and I can’t wait to see it!

michellelynn9175 :  I love how your drawing turned out!  The only thing I’d say is that remember that obviously it will be much smaller in real life, so make sure you’re ok with the number of leaves / prongs and that it won’t feel too busy or cluttered when it’s much smaller. I don’t think it looks too busy per se… just make sure YOU don’t πŸ™‚

Also I assume you told him about not wanting to see the sides of the various prongs from the top view?  Since you’ve got two layers of prongs, that would be important to emphasize.

Guess what, my DK ring is out for delivery today!!  Woooooohoo!

michellelynn9175 :  haha I just got the cads for you — the height is only important when relating to the angles of the side stones. Mine were pears so I wanted a definite taper down to the finger and because my diamond is on the smaller side I wanted it up relatively high so it gave it a little more presence. My original solitaire with this diamond was a 1.8/2mm platinum knife edge band and the stone sat quite low which made it feel smaller. The higher the stones as well the more options for bands to sit with it I think. You have more clearance for higher bands later if you want to mix it up. He polished down the prongs on my ring so I didn’t have a gap and turned my old setting into a ring by taking the prongs off. Kept the sentimentality. It’s besutiful quality. I love it. He really nailed it. I got all claw prongs and it chunked up abit on the sides which look huge in CAD but are perfect in real life.

I think it’s 2.5 actually on the sides..

mans you can see here how he’s polished down the prongs for me

Abd you you have seen it with my 3.5 mm eternity which is heaven. You’ll love a 3 stone. They’re so sparkly and finger covering.

Great idea to get the channel set band with it to see how it looks.
