I have a quick question I want to run by ya’ll.
My husband and I have been looking to adopt a dog for a while now. Our apartment will allow us to bring in a dog at the beginning of next month, which is about 1 1/2 weeks away. I asked if we could bring the dog in early, but they said no, have to wait. We are getting our own house next month anyway at the end of the month and will be ending our lease.
Here is teh problem.
We fell in love with a dog at a shelter. We put a 1 day hold on him and have to get him tomorrow or lose our chance. So, we will be bringing him into the apartment about a week early. I should mention that he does not bark, hardly at all, and also that it is a pet friendly community, we just currently are not in a pet friendly building until the beginning of teh month.
I really don’t want to lose out on this dog that we fell in love with and it’s only about a week. Do you think we can pull this off??

Do you have any friends or family members who he could chill with til your in the clear? The only thing is that you can’t guarntee he won’t bark or do any of the things he has shown at the rescue.
I certainly hope you get him and it works out!

@Eva Peron: This.
I agree, since it is just a short time, see if someone can watch him.
You may also want to call rescues in the area and see if there is a vet boarder that they work with. You may be able to board him at a vet’s office for the week. Not great, but better than missing him. <3

Congrats on the new addition! I’d see if you can board him with a kennel or with a friend. I don’t think I’d risk keeping him at your place until you have approval.

Yes, good idea. My parents will watch the dog but they have a dog of their own which doesn’t get along well with other pups unfortunately. But they are going to keep an eye on him during the day, so about half the time for the next week or so. Just dont want to lose him over 1 week!

You could also ask the shelter if they would hold onto him for a week. If you’ve paid and all, they may be willing to work with you. Good luck!
