Hi ladies! I am hoping for some help. I am in the early planning stages and have been on a mission to find an amazing gunmetal or charcoal colored bridesmaid dress for my girls. Something unique, that will work on a variety of body types ranging from 2-20. I have five bridesmaids and am open to different styles keeping within the same color family. I like the idea of different shades but am having a hard time even finding options that i like at this point! Everything just looks so generic and i want something with a little more personality. Please help! I have looked at Davids Bridal but didnt really see anything that stood out.

Alexia Designs has a color called shadow that might work for you.

I am also doing a gunmetal/charcoal bridesmaid dress and my bridemaids are all shapes and sizes. I decided to go with the infinity dress (if you havenm’t seen it, you should look it up, they are so cool!) and I found a dealer on etsy, named katesy who is making them for me. She had quite a few swatches in that color to choose from.
My bridesmaids love the dresses, because you really can wear them again, because they can be worn in a thousand different ways! And because they can be worn so many different ways the girls can have a silhouette they feel comfortable in while still all looking like a cohesive group! I actually ended up buying myself one for my honeymoon and after that 😀

@Baker2Be: I have seen these dresses and do think they are really cool looking! My only hesitation was ordering it online the girls cant try it on first. Have you already recieved yours and did you have any issues with it being unflattering on anyone or anyone not liking it? I just want everyone to love the dress and feel comfortable! 😉 I saw another poster who mentioned Katesy on etsy so I will have to look her up! Thanks for the help 🙂

I’m doing Alfred Angelo dresses, all in Charcoal, and letting them each pick their own style.
(Not sure if that link will work, but if you click “refine my selection” and then the charcoal, it will show all the dreses in that color.

I don’t know if they are “different” enough but Bill Levkoff has two different shades (pewter and chartreuse) that are that dark metallic grey you are desciribing. Also, J. Crew but those are probably too traditional.

David’s bridal has a very nice charcoal grey color. And of course come in a million different styles that can flatter the different sizes.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

We have a groomsmaid in a DB charcoal chiffon dress- SUPER cute.

@SamanthaB: The dealer will actually send out a sample so we could all look at it, and try it on. The dresses actually are pretty forgiving for any shape, but she makes the dresses to their measurements, rather than a one size fits all dress. The fabric I actually picked wasn’t a common fabric so I ended up just ordering one for myself so I can see it, but I was planning on ordering one for me anyway!

That was the color I had my girls wear and we ALL loved it!
Alfred Angelo 7132 and they were under $100!

I am going with Lazaro’s Grpahite and Opal colors in the silky taffetta…still trying to work out my grooms suits however!!
Where I am really getting hung up is on my accent colors…I am worried about everything being monotone 🙁 Any suggestions would be great! It’s a very formal wedding, so the yellow color I keep seeing seems way too casual for me and my good friend is getting married in May and her color is purple, so I am trying not to go with either of those 🙂

Another bee posted her photos.. and I am SO in love with her color scheme! I showed my fiance, and he loved it too, so we’re kinda stealing it. Grey tuxes for the groomsmen (black for my fiance), grey/gunmetal dresses for the gals… with a pop of color brought out in the girls’ shoes, guys’ boutineres, my bouquet, and decorations. Her pop of color was this gorgeous deep magenta pink color, but since I’m not much of a pink girl I’m going with Blue Dendrobium Orchids (those deep purple/teal blue orchids)
But I thought her magenta pink was SUPER classy and formal… maybe it will work for you??
(NOT my photos, and I claim no credit! I just love to drool over how gorgeous this bee’s wedding was…)

My Maid/Matron of Honor chose a 1 shoulder Bari Jay dress in tafetta. Very flattering.
