At this point I am stumped over backdrop ideas for the ceremony. We are getting married in the same room as our reception, so I’d like to have some decor for the quick ceremony section of the evening. Below is a picture of our room. We’ll be saying our “I Do’s” in front of the fireplace. Just to note our room will be setup with round tables, it wont be like the picture.
The fireplace is a beautiful dark stone, but I’m looking for something to add to make it pop, and to create some great photo ops. I found an amazinggggggg ceremony backdrop over at BHLDN, but at $500 it’s wayyyyyy over budget. Here’s the one I wanted, but just couldn’t bring myself to spending that much on paper.
Anyone have ideas as to how to spice up the wall? I’m semi-crafty. I can put things together, just have a hard time coming up with ideas. Or know of any great shops?

@Future_Ms.Bostonceltics: Does the fireplace have a mantle? If it does you could lean a dramatic mirror on it or put a floral arrangement on top. Or consider if you’re writing your own vows, printing highlights of them on a poster sized sheet and framing it.
Or if there’ isn’t a mantle, flank the sides of the fireplace with tall candleholders or floral arrangements. Then consider hanging a garland over the fireplace. Etsy has tons of great ones that are under $100. And a lot of the vendors will do customized ones. You could do one that:
- Has your names & the date.
- Reads something like “With this ring…” or “To have and to hold…”

Im doing a petal curtain with strands of crystals.
The gigantic paper flowers are cute and look like they would go with the decor of the room.

Thanks for all the ideas ladies!!! I really love the paper flowers. I could use double sided tape and adhere them all over the fireplace wall. Now just to figure out how to make, or where to purchase.
