I am getting married on New Years Eve 2011. I have already purchased a dress from Davids Bridal in Jan. I felt pressured to purchase the dress when I bought it because it was on sale. I like the dress but just am not sure if I love it. I was looking for something more trumpet style rather than the a line dress.
I was wondering if there is any chance that I could get a seamstress to change the design from an A line to a trumpet style. If you have any advice or know what the best way to do this that would be terrific. Any suggestions please?!? I have a little over 2 and a half months. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! Attached is a picture of my dress.

Hi date twin! Well have you asked David’s if they will let you exchange it? After I purchased my 1st dress I decided it was too plain. Since I am a NYE bride I figured I should have some bling. They were very nice and let me exchange it as long as I met with the same consultant and spent equal or more than the 1st dress. I am so happy now with dress #2! It’s worth a shot if you haven’t already checked. Their dresses come in super fast to so you should have time!

@sheilad72: yes I have checked with them. Because I purchased the dress over 6 months ago I can not exchange it. But I just love the trumpet style dress so I was hoping a seamstress could easily change the structure of the dress.

I agreed with @Sheilad72, firstly you should try to ask DB if they’ll let you exchange, though your dress was on sale, I think they’re not going to make the customer not feeling happy, instead of having you great experiences, and spread the good service of them. And pls keep us posted about DB’s service.

Omg I loved that dress on the website. I got in there and it wasnt the one it is absolutely beautiful on especially if they give it to you in your size

Most of the time, a seamstress can absolutely alter an a-line into a trumpet. All it involves is taking the seams at the top of the skirt more. Not hard at all.
Did you talk to DB’s alterations department?

If I were you, I would go to a seamstress outside of DB… but I think it can be done!
