My friend returned her dress 3 times at David’s Bridal, all of them were special orders, and David’s Bridal was great about it every time. I was actually shocked because I heard so many different things but they were really willing to work with us.

That being said I have had david bridal dresses that were the same shape and same size but they felt like they were different sizes. I feel as if their sizing isn’t to predictable.

DB is really good with exchanges and I too had the exact same problem as you!   First of all, I ordered my dress in white (sample was in ivory) but when it came in, I decided I preferred the ivory.  David’s exchanged the dress and ordered it for me in ivory with no questions asked.

Second problem, I had tried on a 6 in the store, which was way too big so I went with a 4.   The white size 4 was still a bit too big but when the ivory 4 came in, it was too snug – and I had NOT gained weight!  In fact, it was too tight across the rib cage – and that is not a place where my weight fluctuates!  It zipped but it was so uncomfortable and there was no way I was able to take a deep breath in it – ugh.

I waited about 5 months as I was too scared to take it back in and hear what they were going to tell me (picturing worst case scenario) but I finally called and they had me bring it in to try on for alterations dept, saying that if it couldn’t be taken out, they would order the 6 for me and exchange the dresses – and this is after it had been home with me for 5 months!   At alterations, the seamstress said that their dresses come with 3 extra inches of material and it was absolutely no trouble to take it out.  It’s currently being altered so I can’t say yet how it’s going to turn out but I can’t imagine it won’t be fine.

So long story short – there is an additional 3 inches of material in their dress, the DB I went to was very understanding and more than accommodating to ensure I had a dress that fit me the way I wanted it to fit!   Good luck!  If your DB isn’t overly helpful, contact another one and see if they’ll help you.
