Alright ladies, I’m over thinking things again, lol. I’m going to a wedding, and I want to wear this royal blue sleeveless dress. It’s really cute- one of those dresses that looks like it’s layers of ribbon wrapped horizontally around, you know what I mean?
Anyway, it’s a religious ceremony, and I would prefer to wear a shawl during the service. The bride says I don’t have to, but I would feel weird with bare shoulders in any house of worship. Problem is, I only have a blue that’s totally the wrong shade so that’s out, a red that doesn’t go at all, and a black one. I’m worried that black shawl = mourning. But I don’t know what other color to do. White? That would match, but I don’t want to wear white…

What about a bright color? Like a pretty shade of pink or green? You could even wear a cute cardigan just for the ceremony.

I second lilyfaith. I think pink could be really pretty or even like a coral/orange color. You could even do a light blue to complement the royal–that would be pretty too.

I agree with the other ladies…a lighter blue maybe? any chance you can show us the dress?

I’m not sure where I got the dress, but here’s one I googled that’s really similar, except mine is a V neck, not a halter, and not quite as low cut. It’s almost the same exact color and material though. I think a very pale blue could work, I’ll have to be on the look out for one like that. I’m not sure about a bright pink, but maybe a soft one…

I like the idea of using a lighter blue color or a bright contrasting color–like pink or coral.

I think black sounds just fine. Your dress is so vivid in color that there’s no way it will look like you’re in mourning. I think in this case black will just look sophisticated and understated.
