So I’ve been thinking on if we were going to do wedding programs or not and tossing the idea back and forth and finally I came to the decision that I’m going to do it. Since we are basically having a DIY wedding I didn’t really know how to do the programs… Then I got to thinking, our wedding is outside at 5PM on August 4th.. So maybe making some kind of fan program would be good? That way it’ll be dual purpose. What do you think? I’ve seen a lot and they are REALLY cute… But another thing is… I don’t know how I’d make it or really know what to put on a program… Any ideas or thoughts? 🙂

@gonzos2007: I am doing DIY programs. If you want to make a cute shape they have paper edgers that just add a nice detail to the programs. On the front I am putting the names of the wedding party, the officiant, the musicians, and a small thank you. On the back I put general guidelines for the ceremony (we are doing a handfasting so I wanted people to know what was going on) and a continued thank you. Here is a pic from my trial run. I am still playing with the spacing (especially on the back) but this is pretty much how they will look. If you made them 1/2 or 3/4 sheet of paper and glued a paint stirrer on it would function as a cute fan. And you could even stamp or decorate the stirrer. Good Luck!

I attempted to make the foldout panel fans and frankly they turned out and looked cute but were so not worth the effort. It was hard to find a paper that was heavy enough to be sturdy but thin enough to cut/punch easily, so they turned out a little floppy. I can send you a template if I havent completely deterred you
I would do one of the ones thats just a panel attached to a stick.
As for info we put names of the wedding party, a basic outline of the order of the ceremony and he accompanying music and a thanks to the guests for attending and our parents for raising us/hosting the event.

You can order fans from Oriental Trading and make a same size paper to cover the back side for your programs.

We’re making quarter circle programs to use as fans at our wedding at the end of this month (17 days!!!). One side is a solid color with the wedding party in white text and the other side is white with the flower motif from our invite. There will be a hole bunched in the corner for ribbon and it’s going to be fantastic!
