I am totally not a shoe gal. Can anyone recommend something they think would look good with my dress? My wedding is next summer but I need to pick shoes soon for my first fitting. I definitely prefer flats or sandals. I would be OK with a small heel but would want to change into flats for the reception. But does that ruin the dress length to have 2 different height shoes? I don’t even know- do most people do heels or flats?? Totally lost! haha

Your options are endless honestly! I like heels for the ceremony because I think they help my posture and it makes me keep a steady stride. I didn’t want to walk down the aisle too fast (didn’t have a typical ceremony per say as my culture does things differently but we do have a walking down an aisle type moment so similar enough). So I’d suggest some nude heels. Idk if Nordstrom Rack has free international shipping but they have small nude heels on sale all the time!
Or or you could do something whimsical like these:

These look cute if rose gold is one of your colors:
ASOS has tons of options so just go through their flats sections and you’ll find some inspo I’m sure!

If you are looking for a small heel but more comfortable check out either some low heels or a wedge:
Or if you are looking for some flats, these are really pretty!
I personally think that these would look lovely with your dress:

Thanks ladies! Those ASOS ones are so cute!!! I really am leaning to flats because I NEVER wear heels and have bunions LOL lucky me so its a lot of pain by end of the night. However I am 5″4 and my fiance is 6″5!
Any other reasons why anyone would choose heels over flats? Good point about it helping with posture and walking though!
I guess another option- small kitten heel and then go into platform flats for reception. Then it’s the same height so it won’t alter the dress length?

Find a comfortable pair of flats. No one will see your shoes, so it really doesn’t matter. I was going to wear heels, but hurt my knee so I had to wear flats. It was the BEST thing that happened! My feet did not hurt at all and it was easy for me to walk outside.
I had Yosi Samra shoes with glitter, they were cute (althought no one saw them but me) and SO comfortable.

Ooh where did you find those flats??

I wore 4 inch heels and changed into flats for the reception. I got my dress hemmed to the flats and it was fine. Actually preferred it that way since you could see a bit of my heels peeking out.

I second this! It’s unlikely anyone will see or notice your shoes in a floor-length gown. Get something comfy! If shoe portraits are important, you could find a beautiful heel just for the bridal portraits, and change right back into your comfies.
If you really want a tall shoe for the height difference go with a wedge that also has a platform — the angle will be less steep and more comfortable, but you can keep the height. If you REALLY want comfortable wedges — Crocs makes wedges that aren’t fancy but aren’t hideous (see below), but there are tons of prettier, comfortable wedges out there.
ETA: I have a pair of beautiful 4-inch wedges that are almost as comfortable as flats because of the platform. 🙂 I can dance in them and wear them for hours before my feet start to ache a little.
