I saw pretty table numbers where somebody wrapped a two strips of pretty paper around an empty wine bottle (for a layered look), and then the table number was in a white circle pasted on top of it. it was pretty.

or, why not use full bottles of wine and let the table number be the “label”.

like this: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/table-number-ideas#slide_9

or, instead of table numbers, what if you named your tables after your favorite wines or vinyards?

maybe use wine bottles, but instead of table numbers, use movie titles and put them on the wine labels.

bonus points for finding a jpeg of the movie poster online and pasting that on the wine labels too.

Use wine bottles as above but make the labels titles of movies that involved wine.

Casablanca

Dr. No

French Kiss

Gigi

Killer Bees

The Muppet Movie

Notorious

Sideways

Silence of the Lambs

This Earth is Mine

An Affair to Remember

Blood and Wine

Disclosure

Dracula

The Godfather  etc etc etc

@janie-janie: Those are really cute, but I can see where this may be expensive.

are you planning to serve wine at each table?   if so, then the wine bottle as table numbers can serve as a dual purpose and once people are seated, the waiters can come by and open the bottles and serve them!

or, you can always use empty wine bottles, if you happen to have enough. since you have a year, and you love wine, there is time to start saving them up!

I would say incorporate movies by naming tables after your favorites – either your favorite romances or name each table after a favorite movie relevant to the guests sitting there (i.e. FIs college buddies sit at the Animal House table, etc.)

As for wine, we are doing table number holders like those below. My distant family started a winery in Southern California that shares my last name, so I went to their tasting room and asked if they had extra corks I could have. They gave me about 200 for free, so very inexpensive!

Ok, I tried posting on this before and it never came up. Try again:

Movies: I agree, name tables after movies – I would say either your favorite romantic films or name each table a movie you like that is applicable to the people sitting there (i.e. FIs college friends sit at the Animal House table).

Wine: A cheaper way to incorporate wine is to use wine corks as table number holders. We glue-gunned 5 together in a sort of pyramid shape that will hold our table numbers. I actually share a last name with a SoCal winery (distant family), so we went to their tasting room and asked if they had extra corks we could take with. Once they heard we wanted to incorporate them in our wedding, they gave us about 200 for free.
