Haha, those are SO different. Think about this way…do you want a wedding that reflects your every-day personalities or do you want a wedding that is fantasy? Personally, I think a wedding the reflects you guys as a couple (now and in the future) would be the best bet…so my vote is the rock’n’roll glam wedding!

I have to say the first theme sounds like it fits you more as a couple.  The second theme (which is more my style) sounds like it’s more because of your love for the movie, not the style/theme.  I’d go with the first theme if I were you!

Both could be very cool.

The Rock & Roll glam wedding could be a lot of fun, but it could also easily turn garish if you’re not careful. English garden wedding will be much easier to do, I think, because much more of what’s available for brides will work for it. I think you’ll have more choices.

@baroness:  Do the Rock’n’Roll theme but lend aspects of your wedding towards that fantasy (or vice versa). OH! What about having a romantic, Jane Austen themed engagement photo shoot!? Go to the gardens, dress in that romantic flowy dress…live that fantasy for a day and have a lifetime of pictures to look back on! That way, the wedding itself will be about you guys as a couple and reflect the things you guys love most!

I do think there is a classy way to do a glam Hollywood wedding. Don’t focus on the kitschy stuff…focus on the colors, the music, the vibe! There was a hot rod episode of My Fair Wedding that if you haven’t seen, you should totally check out!

Why not mix a little of both together- have the english vintage venue with rock n roll 50’s glam attire?

Or the P&P wedding with hot rod cars etc. There a re lots of way to incorporate both themes without going over the top or it looking weird!

I would definately ahve a look at offbeat bride website for some ideas!

@baroness:  You should think of combining them…the 50s-style wedding in an English garden setting. But I’m a sucker for outdoor venues.  You could really pull it off if you focus on the “old Hollywood glamour” side of it, a la Marilyn Monroe, with just touches of the pin up, rock and roll vibe (more for your reception? You could to this with music, table details, etc).

Have you asked your FI’s opinion? That should really be the driving factor behind whatever you decide.
