I’m making invites for my FIL’s upcoming 70th birthday. Our standard way of celebrating is to go to a restaurant & everyone buy their own meal/drinks etc. It’s usually just in-town family & everyone’s pretty happy.
However, because it’s a milestone for Father-In-Law, he’d like to invite out-of-town relatives (hence us creating proper invites, not the usual word of mouth). I know it won’t be a big deal to the rellies who come in – we’ve travelled to them for reunion/holidays, and gone to restaurants and everyone pays their own way.
So now – does anyone have any diplomatic ways of expressing that we’re going to a restaurant, & everyone pays for themselves?
