Please help! So I finally purchased my wedding gown after trying on at least 50 at about 10 different stores, including David’s bridal. I was originally looking for a lace gown with cap sleeves or 3/4 sleeves, but was unable to find one that I liked for a reasonable price (around $1000). I decided to wear a lace bolero instead, and I went back to David’s bridal with a picture of the bolero. The saleslady picked out a simple, classic taffeta gown with folds/draping that I love. I purchased the gown and was happy with it, although it was very different from what I first pictured wearing
That is the dress and the bolero is here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/61122781/the-lacey-bridal-shrug-white-or-ivory
I still love the dress but now I have two misgivings 1. I looked up the dress online after purchasing it and saw that it is made of imported polyester! I only knew it was made of taffeta. Do many brides wear polyester? Is there a big difference between taffeta made from silk and taffeta made from polyester? I would have never known (I loved the fabric when I tried it on) and It seems a silly thing to worry about, but wedding day is such a special day. To add to this, when the dress came in this week it had two snags in the front. The saleslady immediately ordered me a new dress, but it still makes me worry a bit that it is cheap material (the dress was $299, marked down from $499, a lot cheaper than I planned on spending!) and won’t look as nice as I first thought. The dress does have very positive reviews from what I found online…
2. I also started worrying after I ordered it that I should have ordered soft white (which I tried on) instead of white. I ordered white because the bolero comes in white and ivory and I wanted them to match perfectly. I know that a lot of brides now order ivory or off white and I hope that white will look ok (I have fair-ish skin and very dark hair and eyes).
Please let me know your thoughts, thanks so much!
