ok need advice!! I am 5’4 and a hourglass shape, according to my body shape I should avoid: sweatheart, boning, or pleats, pockets and this dress has ALL those elements. UHHHHGGG. I have an average build and since I am short it looks like a trash bag on…..HELP!!! The bride said I could add straps but not sure if it will help. Thoughts everyone?? If I do add straps can I do it simply? Also should I cut out the pockets?
here is the link it will be in dark brown. (the dress is nice but in Olive Oil or Gwyneth Paltro.)

@txcalgal: I think this dress is really pretty. And I can’t see how this could possibly look bad on you … do you have a picture?

I agree. This dress looks like it would look good on anyone. A picture of you in it would help

@txcalgal: Where did you get the idea that those are bad for your shape. I’m an hourglass and the only thing on that list is pleats, but that’s mostly because I’m plus sized, not hourglass. Can you post a picture of you in it? I don’t see how it could look like a trashbag.

The pockets might end up looking better than you think. I had heard that pockets often add ‘weight’ and make you look fatter, but my sister’s dress has pockets which she absolutely loves and you can’t tell they’re there at all. I also bought a dress with pockets recently and am also an hour glass shape and they only look bad when I’m sitting down. If you really don’t like the pockets when the dress comes in, see if you can have them sewn shut. Even if they’re still there, if they’re sewn shut they won’t ‘open’ and look bad (I did that with a different dress where the pocket didn’t work at all and you can’t even tell there ever was a pocket!).
