Can you post a close-up of the beading on your dress?  That would help.

I think that how you do your hair will also make a difference.  I would say if you don’t like how traditional it is, then no veil, but something (headband) that goes with the beading.  And you could do colored shoes, which will liven it up.

For the necklace, you could do an alchemy on etsy with a photo of the beading and some ideas of necklaces you like.  That way you can get something that really compliments the dress.

In general, since the dress is traditional, I think you have more room to play with styling.  Good luck and have fun!

I know you said you can’t get a new one, but have you looked at this place? http://www.ariadress.com/WeddingDressesThumbnails.htm

I post about them all the time because I am in love with their simple, clean, affordable gowns. If you got a dress in their organic cotton sateen, even with a rush order (30%) for your wedding it’d be still be under $400 for a dress. You could sell the other one onine and make back your money and have a dress you really want to wear!

I’m so sorry you had such a hard time finding a dress. Good luck to you!

if you dont  love your dress, i would recommend shopping around on the used dress sites. there are a ton of amazing dresses listed for under $600 on preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed.com

i wouldnt even discuss it with friends or family who might try to influence you. I would just sell your current dress and look for another.
