I don’t have many skin problems, never had- but randomely started breaking out a few months ago–so I went to my dermatologist and she said it was hormonal acne. So she prescribed me “Aczone”. I’m obsessed with it. My skin is clear allll the time. Like, I literally don’t think i’ve have ONE pimple since i’ve used it.

I break out if I eat wheat or dairy products, once I stopped my skin has been just dandy =)

See if you can get a prescription for something oral maybe, like triclosan or solodyn.  They tend to work much more quickly than a cleanser, and your dermatologist will also have the best advice on a cleanser or moisturizer.

Dermatologist. I started seeing results in less than 2 months after I finally went. I didn’t have one previously but just did a search for ones covered by my insurance. I also hate doctor’s appointments but I don’t mind these.

I’ve been on Solodyn and Ziana for almost four months and my skin is drastically clearer. At my worst, I would get like 6 or 7 hormonal pimples around my period. Now I maybe get 1.

I now use just Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer because my dermatologist recommended I gentler products.

A couple of Bees have had blogs of skincare recently, you could check out the products they recommended (I think one was Clinique’s acne set?)  I recommend Paula’s Choice Acne products, they worked really well for me within a month (but I have dealt with Acne since I was a teen).  Buuuuut since you don’t have a lot of time to experiment, I would go to the dermatologist >.<

Have you considered ProActive???. I really works, the only issue is it may be drying but if you use sparingly it should work.

I just bought a ton of Clinique stuff at Sephora last weekend. Ever since I went off BC, I have been breaking out like crazy! I wanted to get something with salicylic acid, but I didn’t want the whole acne solutions kit because I also have dry skin. So I ended up going with the soap bar – it really cleared up my face and my back, which is super necessary because my dress has a very deep open back. A woman at Sephora also suggested I exfoliate, since my pores are probably clogged, which makes the hormonal acne worse, and this is what is causing the dry skin too. My face looks so much better now that I started this new routine! In the morning when I shower, I use the acne bar (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P196524&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1254). At night, I remove my makeup, exfoliate (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P122718&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1254), tone, and moisturize (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P289943&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1254).

It’s been really working for me (and I have pretty sensitive skin), hope this helps!

I agree with PP that ideally you need to know what is causing the breakouts, to know how to treat it. You don’t eat any wheat at all? (Bread, pasta, cookies, etc.)

I don’t think a cleanser alone will clear it up, you’ll need a new routine, but then again just reducing the number of products you use could help as one of them may be the culprit.

@Ms. Gertie: Depending on when the doctor can get you in, I might wait on buying the ProActiv. I’d hate for you to buy it and have them recommend something else.
