Looking for anyone who has purchased new or used Henriksdal dining chairs (not the high top bar table ones). We’re looking to get a set of four for our table, but not sure how sturdy they are, if they will last. Fiance and I are not small people so we wanted to be sure we wouldn’t end up regretting these chairs.
Just thought I’d check in before we head to Ikea 🙂

These are nice chairs but they can, after time, get a little bowled/saggy in the seat. They don’t look any different but they collapse a little in the seat with time. Also, if you scrap the chair back and forth to sit at the table/get up from table, or you have someone who leans back on the back legs it can make them unstable and split from the front half. They can be tightened up but obiously its increased wear and tear and noone wants to end up with a broken chair and a sore bum/back!

@lucyh2bee: Ohmigosh! I am surprised to even get a response, it’s a random request for info, haha. Thanks. Yeah that is what I was concerned about, because really, who doesn’t push the chair back to get up from the table with their butt in it. I was looking for reviews online since these chairs have been around for awhile but couldn’t find anything. We’re going to check out a few options at Ikea, but I think we might just cave and buy a whole set from the Brick or something. I realllly want a bar height table, but I was trying to be a bit cheaper and just get new chairs for our current table. I’d rather buy a set that’s built to last then chairs that might only last a couple years…hmm.
Thanks for the info though – much appreciated! 🙂

Woah, I love these. We are looking for chairs of the same style, but they are so expensive from other stores. Let me know if you buy them/how they are!

I have never had a good experience when it comes to Ikea furniture. Very cheaply made and can tend to break after awhile. I have stopped shopping there after buying a couple pieces through them. You get what you pay for definitely…
I always check to make sure what I am buying is sturdy and made of quality materials now. I’d rather just pay more and know that what I am getting will last. We got a really nice bar height table from Ashley Furniture.

I don’t have experience with those specific chairs, but I’ve seen a few other types of Ikea chairs fall apart pretty quickly. I never had a problem with any other Ikea furniture, and I have a lot of it, but the chairs seem to be more prone to problems. More wear and tear, I guess.

I have seen the same thing with other Ikea chairs too…that’s why I was nervous. I checked them out last night and while I do like them, I think we are going to save up for a bit and look for a for a full dining set. I’m just worried they will either crack or snap. I too have and still have some Ikea furniture and while most of it has lasted I just don’t know if I trust it. Plus we tend to bring out dining chairs if we have a lot of people over in the living room area too, so they will get a lot of wear and use. Hmmph. Pretty chairs will have to wait!
Thanks for the recommendation @Cady – I never thought of Ashley Furniture I will check out their stuff.
@soyjoy222: I know! They are expensive everywhere!

@jlc3: I bought chairs like this for my dining room a few years back. Check out overstock.com. It’s where I ended up getting mine — they were more expensive than Ikea, but cheaper than anywhere else, and they lasted!
