@Nona99:  If he can’t work up the guts to do it himself and wants you to do it for him, it doesn’t indicate malice but it’s certainly something that would worry ME.  I would want to hear it from him, of course, because what kind of relationship would it be if he couldn’t talk to me about something so stupid and meaningless and had to do it through other people?  At that point, I’m wouldn’t be surprised if he proposed through other people like a fifth grader trying to tell a girl that he likes her through her best friend.

ETA: Not to say the engagement ring is stupid and meaningless, but when he knows she won’t mind the center stone being a sapphire, the fact that it isn’t a diamond becomes a stupid thing to fear discussing.

I would want him to tell me. If you tell her she might get upset and go to him asking him why he didn’t tell her. You know?

@Nona99:  I can definitely tell white sapphire from diamond. If I see a white sapphire, I will either think it is a white sapphire, or a really poorly cut diamond. He needs to tell her ASAP so she isn’t embarrased when she keeps telling people its a diamond, and they can tell she’s either lying or doesn’t know what she really has. She may not care what stone she has, but it may look like she’s misleading others about her stone, and no one likes it when somebody tries to “pass their stone off…” 🙁 I’m really sorry there’s such a mix-up here. Her Fiance needs to fess up and prevent any further damages. :[

Good luck to him, I know it’s a hard situation, it’s just, if he wants to marry this girl he needs to be up to handling situations that get WAY harder than this.

Hopefully she’s understanding, it’s really good he’s doing it now instead of waiting.

@Nona99:  Yeah, some brides are ready to go.  It’s a good sign that she’s dying to start a life with him, right?
